Getting Started
My tool's broken. What do I do? Send it in. Package it well, include your contact info, and ship it to:
StrapForge LLC 164 Devon Ave Bensenville, IL 60106
Once it lands on the bench, we'll take a look and get you a free estimate before we touch a thing.
Can I get a price before I ship it in? No, and we won't pretend we can. A tool's condition tells the real story, and we don't know that until it's in front of us. What we can promise: the estimate is free, and it's the number you'll actually pay. No surprise line items after the fact.
What if I already took it apart myself? That happens more than you'd think. Bag up the small parts so they don't disappear in shipping, and protect anything fragile, boards, motors, anything that doesn't like getting knocked around. We'll take it from there.
Warranty
Does a CoreForge repair come with a warranty? Not a stated warranty period, no. Here's what it does come with: if your tool doesn't work when it gets back to you, we fix it. Free. That's not a loophole-filled promise. That's just us standing behind the work.
What about ReForge? ReForge is the full refurbishment, and it carries a 90-day warranty on non-wear parts and labor. Wear parts, the ones the manufacturer's own datasheet identifies as expected to break down through normal use, aren't covered under that window. If a non-wear part fails within 90 days, we make it right.
What voids a warranty? Same as any shop worth trusting: misuse, dropping it, running it dry with no lubrication, water getting into the air line and rusting it out, or using the tool for something it wasn't built to do. If you open the tool up and take a swing at fixing it yourself before sending it in, that resets the clock on what we can cover.
Cost & Timeline
How long does a repair take? If the parts we need are in stock, figure 1 to 2 weeks from the time we receive your tool. If something has to be ordered, we'll tell you upfront and give you a real timeline instead of a guess.
What if you find more wrong with it once you're in there? Sometimes a tool needs more than what showed up in the initial estimate. If the added parts cost pushes more than $100 past what we quoted, we'll stop and get your approval before going further. Under that, we'll just finish the job. We're not calling you over a $12 part.
What if the repair cost gets close to what a new tool costs? We'll tell you straight. If the repair runs north of 50% of what a comparable new tool costs, that's the point where it's worth a conversation with your sales rep before we move forward. We'd rather have that conversation than fix something that isn't worth fixing.
I got the estimate and decided not to repair it. Now what? No charge for the estimate itself. To get the tool back, we'll need a UPS or FedEx account number from you, return shipping runs collect on your account. We don't cover return freight on declined repairs.
Parts
What parts do you use? Both OEM and aftermarket, depending on the job. Every aftermarket part we stock has been tested by our engineering staff before it goes anywhere near a customer's tool. If you want OEM only, or aftermarket only, tell us when you send the tool in and we'll build the repair around that.
What's PartsForge? It's our reclaimed-parts program, and it's set up per customer. If you've got a fleet of tools coming through us, we keep a dedicated bin of usable, tested parts pulled from tools that weren't worth repairing on their own. Those parts are yours. We draw from your bin first when we're working on your equipment, which keeps your repair costs down without cutting corners on quality.
If your bin sits inactive and there's no more repair work coming through, we'll reach out. From there it's your call: we can scrap the remaining parts, or ship them back to you collect on a UPS or FedEx account number.
What We Don't Touch
What kinds of tools do you not repair? Hydraulic tools are outside our lane. If it's a strapping tool, or another pneumatic tool, ask us. Chances are good we can help even if it's not strapping equipment.
Payment
How do I pay for a repair? Credit card, ACH, or check. Credit card payments carry a 5% processing fee. ACH and check don't.
